Your name is misleading. You're not located in the Dallas or Fort Worth city limits. You're in Grapevine. While I understand that you wanted to be in between the two cities, the residents of those two cities have to drive further to get to you. More traffic and construction zones await us.
Once I arrive, I have to navigate through a maze that is too complex to be compared to those on kids' menus at restaurants. As I wait for one of your machines to dispense my ticket, I live in fear that the machine will fail to do its job and/or the barrier gate will fail to open. No, I cannot simply wait longer or back up, as there is most likely a line of cars behind me (which I assume are filled with impatient people who are running late for their flights). Another fear comes as I try to find the appropriate parking. Thankfully, your signs make it clear that I am in the right terminal. Please do the same in regards to parking garages. "I don't know how I got here, but I'm in the right spot somehow," I tell myself as I wind up in a parking space.
Please make sure there are always people who can check us in. I was forced to use a kiosk last time. My success rate in getting my boarding pass from these machines is 1/8. They confuse me. On the other hand, I have actually never encountered too long of a security line. I'm sure other people have horror stories about this, though. I must travel on some truly random days of the year.
Once I go through security and find my gate, you tempt me. For an airport, you have some pretty good food options: Chili's, McDonald's, Auntie Anne's, Baskin Robbins, even a gourmet popcorn stand. You also act as a mall with some of the stores you have. If you wouldn't delay and/or cancel flights, you wouldn't need all of this.
The fact that you're a huge, international airport tempts me as well. This is because I see flights going to Florida, Hawaii, Italy, etc. I'm tempted to sneak past the agent behind the desk, hop on that airplane, and eventually arrive at one of those desirable destinations.
Your views are cool, though. Watching dozens of planes take off and land constantly, knowing that they are leaving for and coming from places all over the world, is pretty neat. You can complicate my day, but in doing this, you teach me how to "adult." I am grateful to you for giving me transportation that is (hopefully) shorter than my six-hour drive.
