Oh Broadway, where to begin...
As many Spartanburg dweller's know, you are the hidden gem tucked snugly between the Pure Barre and Planet Fitness. While I give props to those who find themselves at either of these other businesses on a Saturday morning, I say with confidence that I will always choose you. You are far from just a bagel shop--you are the saving grace to many a late night, you are the pick me up needed right before an early morning class, you are a staple in any sparkle city resident's diet.
The joy of waking up early enough to find that all the varieties of bagels are still in stock is indescribable. The excitement that builds as you patiently wait for your name to be called in a slightly foreign accent is exhilarating. But nothing compares to the pure happiness you feel as you take your first bite of those two warm pieces of dough that surround whatever creation your heart has conjured up that day.
Whether a customer prefers just the classic cream cheese or wants to go all out with added eggs and bacon, you hold no judgment. You do not frown upon those who claim to be getting a second bagel for "later that day"...when you know good and well that they plan to eat it immediately. Your odd smell that lingers on all clothing is just a simple reminder of the bliss we undoubtedly experienced in your presence.
While some may argue that Spartanburg South Carolina is the farthest thing from New York City, I believe that the "Broadway" dreams that come true between those four red walls on East Main Street are just as magical as those in the big city.
