Dedicated to the best friends who helped me become who I am today.

Wow, 5-6 years is a long time to know someone and I have known a lot of you for that long maybe even longer! It all started with 8 girls in the 8th grade. You welcomed me into the St. Mary's Family with open arms. I loved it there and it was all because of you. I love you more than you will ever really know. You gave me a gift that day. The gift of lifelong friendship.

Once we got to high school we added many new faces. This was extremely exciting. It was a time to keep old friends but bring in some new. Each person has brought something unique and different to our group over the years. We have seen it shrink and grow. Despite this, it has never lost the core 8 friends. We have all stuck together through the rapid changes within the group. I wish I could have graduated with you but in a way I did, in spirit. I saw the pictures and felt honored to be the best friend of so many talented amazing graduates.

Even though we all go to different colleges now, I am always happy to see pictures and posts on Facebook. I like to know what everyone is up to. And any chance I get to come visit I take it, because no matter where I go or what I do Annapolis will always be home for me. It was the town I really grew up in. Those pivotal years of maturity were there in the Naval Academy and St. Mary’s families. Bonds have been forged that will be with me forever. Keeping in touch has helped me to not feel as lonely and planning trips to visit gives me a chance to look forward to something.

I cherish each and every one of you. You are always completely honest with me (especially when it comes to boys), we laugh lots, we have made the best memories together from school trips to sleep overs, and we have learned from each other along the way. I will always be sweet, innocent Hayley even when college has to teach me the tougher more adult lessons. I will bounce back because I know down the coast are friends who will be there to support me always.

What started as a group of girls in 8th grade has grown into an amazing experience with lots of new faces and new gifts to be gained. I loved watching the group thrive over the years. I miss you all so much. Can’t wait to see you again.

Love,

Gangsta Hayles

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
