You Are Enough

Even at the darkest of times, there's always a little glimmer of light.

You Are Enough
Carly Halitzer

When you’re feeling worthless; know that you are enough. When you’re feeling hurt; know that you are enough. When you feel like nothing can go right; know that even then you are enough. Nothing or no one can ever make you smaller than what you are. You always were, are, and will be enough.

If you're feeling like you aren't good enough, chances are that you are enough; better than good enough, greater. Boosting yourself up isn't as easy as tearing yourself down one piece at a time. We are all guilty of feeling as if we aren't good enough and beat ourselves up over who we are not; rather than loving who we are.

In today's society the media makes it very easy for people to feel as if they do not meet the world’s expectations. Media shows people with picture “perfect” bodies which leads to many people having body image issues. The “perfect” body is impossible to get, but media helps to put people down; making them think they are not enough because they don't look like what society wants them to look like. We sometimes tend to compare ourselves to others. Thus, being very critical of oneself. Society as a whole needs to make a leap into the real world and stop getting wrapped up in what should be rather than what is right in front of us. Everyone has something amazing to offer this world and it's time that people aren't ashamed to be who they are. As long as you stay true to who you are and love who you are then you too are enough.

Putting yourself down is always easier than lifting yourself up, but one day you're going to realize your self worth. When that day comes along, you're going to feel like you have the entire world in the palm of your hands. Don’t dwell on mistakes of the past. Live in the moment. Get excited for what the future has to hold for you.

You are your own toughest critic.

Never be someone's second choice. Second is just the first loser. If they don't have the space to put you first, then don't give them time to be in your life. You deserve more. You are more. You are not a choice. You are a priority.

When it comes down to it, there is a fine line between happiness and being happy. Happiness is a state of being; whereas to be happy is an emotion. You can not rely on anyone or anything for your happiness. Only you can dictate your own happiness. You have the right to be you and love yourself. If you're around people who don't make you feel happy try surrounding yourself with people who do. Everyone deserves to see themselves for who they really are and know that the person staring back at them in the mirror loves the person who is looking at them. Be the you that you were born to be.

You are enough and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
