It’s okay to say “I don’t know”:
“I don’t know” a phrase I fear to say when asked, “what is next?” Following such a big accomplishment I’ve realized that many often ask “so what’re your plans?” when you’re in the phase of transition. From faith to faith as the old saints would say and from glory to glory it’s rare that anyone discusses what would be perceived as the “downtime” (which I would like to submit is actually the grind time) and what such even looks like. How does one handle such? Without feeling as though they could lose it all?
Well….. I’ll be the first to admit that after achieving such a grand accomplishment, I have found myself feeling extremely down, struggling with anxiety regarding what my next steps will be, and most importantly balancing out my life. In reference to the timeless question “so what’re your plans?” A rehearsed “just trying to save money and get back on my feet….” as if that’s a real plan, right?
Yet it’s the truth, a harsh one at that. One that I’m sure you all have experienced because many of times transition is difficult to accept. Surprisingly, being outside of your comfort zone isn’t much comfortable at all. However, there are ways to adjust and make the best of your grind time.
How to deal will learning to “figure it out”:
Time, patience, time and more patience. Some prayers and meditation never fails to help if you’re anything like me and struggle with anxiety and doubt. The key to figuring anything out is to be in the appropriate position that will allow the answer to reveal itself to you. If you’ve followed any of my writings thus far, then you know that I for one do not believe in happenstance nor coincide. If you ask me, nothing just happens! But by design we discover what was created with us in mind, rather it’s a specific job, relationship, business idea, and/or etc. it’s all in the discovery. So when journeying give yourself what…..? Yes, you said it correct “time and patience”. As well as trust. Doubt is a certified way to dismantle any clarity that you may receive on this quest, so it’s best to steer clear of both it (being doubt) and fear, because the two work hand-in-hand.
Most importantly utilize your “grind time” to work on your internal. Find out what your passions are and go for them in a headstrong manner. Muster up the courage to believe in what it is that you desire and work for it relentlessly. Learn to accept and find value in each season of your life.
Each meaning just that, every single season including the ones that feel like there sponsored from endless moments of “I don’t know”.
