I have seen All Time Low a total of eight times now and it will be nine come August. Everyone knows by now that they are my favorite band in the entire world and I would pay any amount of money or travel any distance to go see them.
A question that I’ve gotten quite a few times is “why do you go see that band so much when it’s the same show?” and I’m here to tell you why in the best way that I possibly can.
First, it is in no way the same show. The setlist is different for each tour, the stage design is different, the interactions between (mostly) Alex and Jack are different and in some cases, the venue is different.
Some tours have some songs on the setlist that are new or haven’t been played in awhile and the production, lighting and design are always different because All Time Low have always been the band that does the most when it comes to what goes on behind them.
Sure, one may argue that seeing multiple shows on the same tour is kind of the same thing, and in a way, they’re right, but it’s a different experience each time because of the venue and even the people you meet, which brings me to my next point.
In the past few years, I’ve met many different people who come from all walks of life. At the Spring Fever Tour in 2013, I went with one of my best friends and talked to a few people in line who followed the tour.
During the Future Hearts Tour in 2015, I talked to a few people on The Hustler Club and made friendships, and let me tell you, getting to meet your friend in person is the most wonderful thing in the world.
These past few tours though, The Young Renegades Tour in 2017 and just recently the Young Renegades Tour Part II, I’ve met quite a few people and have gotten to know a lot about them. We’ve saved spots for each other in the line on food and bathroom runs, fangirled about being at the barricade and have gushed over our favorite songs.
Sure, we may live miles or states away from each other, but friendship knows no distance. When you meet someone who loves the same music you do, they understand what you mean when you express how important they are to you, they don’t judge you and you are able to become closer based off of the band.
The most important reason why I see the band so many times is because they make me happy. Seeing them on stage just feet away right in front of me makes me forget about everything that’s going on in my life for awhile and I’m able to enjoy those songs that I love so much.
That near two-hour period when they are on stage allows me to focus on them without a care in the world. It allows me to have fun and connect with not only All Time Low but with my friends as well.
Their music has brought me comfort when I needed it the most and has allowed me many late night car rides and sleepovers with my friends jamming to the old songs and new ones alike.
Their songs range from upbeat with messages like love and friendship, to dark, raw and real with messages such as loss, heartbreak and moving on. There’s a song for every mood and occasion and they always know how to put me in a good mood.
All Time Low
Because of these reasons, I will always continue seeing All Time Low when they come to St. Louis or a city relatively close. The shows never get old and it’s a new experience every time whether it’s your first show or hundredth.
