This is a poem that I was inspired to write while reading the novel "Slaughterhouse Five" by Kurt Vonnegut
all good things come in threes…
god grant me the
serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
courage to change the thing I can and,
wisdom to know the difference
The bitterness of the past, the burden of the present, and the brewing of the future. The three inevitable forces that affect everything and anything all at once. The past has always already happened, the present is always happening, and the future will always happen. No matter how much we want to be with them for just a few more moments, no matter how much we need just a few more seconds to finish, no matter how much we try to stop it. Time will always happen. It is the all being power in the lives of all, no matter which god they worship. The obsession with time is unfathomable: the need to understand the time of day, the age of a person or thing, the amount of time require to complete a task. It rules everyone and affects us all; turning us old and shriveled until our time stops, for time itself will never end.
No one can escape the grasp of time, for time will always happen.
The sentimentality of the past, the satisfaction of the present, and the sanguinity of the future. The three inevitable forces that affect everything and anything. The past has already taught us, the present is already taking us, and the future will always be waiting for us. The more we try the more we can relive the past, the more we can soak in the present, the more we can cling to the possibility of the future. Time will always happen. It is the all being power that keeps our toes on the ground and heads in the sky, the power that keeps us mortal. The obsession with time is prudent: the need to understand our lifetime, the want to know when the sunset is, the amount of time required to change something. It rules everyone and affects us all; turning us into fragments of the past, present and future that will live on forever, for our time itself will never end.
We must all grasp the embrace of time, for time will always happen.
