This year was an iconic year for new music. Masterpieces like DAMN., Melodrama, and ÷ (Divide)came from beloved returning artists Kendrick Lamar, Lorde, and Ed Sheeran and more as well as brought new artist break through albums likeAmerican Teen by Khalid, Dua Lipa's, and Harry Style's self-titled albums.

Billboard releases their list of top albums each year, and this year they pretty much nailed their rankings (check it out here). However, with so much amazing music being released it is inevitable they missed a few key albums that belong on that list. But no worries, because those melodious albums are recognized right here with my list of albums that should’ve been on the Billboard Top 50 Albums of 2017 list.

1. don’t smile at me - Billie Eilish

3. The Thrill Of All - Sam Smith


Not seeing this album on the top 50 list shocked me the most because Sam Smith could make an album singing nursery rhymes and it would go number one.

Lauv only released singles this year but compiled them into a playlist on Spotify called I met you when I was 18 and it is absolutely incredible and if it had been made into an album it would’ve been on that top 50 list no doubt.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
