The American South. One of the most iconic places in the world due to many events that have defined and shaped its culture in America. Ranging from the slavery time period to the 1996 olympic games in Atlanta that showed new begging, it is a strange time to be a person who lives in Georgia. Coming from a state that has voted Republican in the last couple elections, I am a proud Democrat and I supported people like Jon Ossoff in there democratic run in my state. But yesterday, the Alabama senate race ended and it was a shock to some people that Alabama was no longer a fully Republican state. After the tight race between Doug Jones and Roy Moore, the Democrats took a state that had once been a stronghold for republicans. Roy Moore has been the subject of much controversy, ranging from sexual abuse allegations from many different women. What was most shocking was that one of these women was 14, which makes her an underage minor and makes this whole situation utterly disgusting. Jones had received much support from both parties in Congress and even had most Republicans side with him, choosing the better candidate over party. This win shows us that even the most political states know who is the correct choice in an election. Congratulations to Doug Jones.
