I was recently asked if I could give myself advice five years ago, would you and if so, what would it be. Five years ago I would have been a freshman in high school, about fifteen years old. Looking back, five years wasn’t that long ago for me as compared to what is yet to come. But that isn’t to say I have not figured out what I could not five years ago.

Nonetheless, I turned to Taylor Swift’s hit, “Fifteen.” I encourage you to go back and take a listen like I did. Taylor spits nothing but the truth. I realized that is not just another banger from Taylor Swift. It is everything I would tell myself at the age of fifteen.

"When you're fifteen, and somebody tells you they love you, you're gonna believe them."

Fifteen-year-old me was the most naive person I have known. I would believe anything I heard. And I was so oblivious to the fact that there is a difference between loving somebody, and being in love with somebody. You may love at fifteen, and you may even be in love at fifteen.. But love at fifteen is not your only love.

“Feeling like there's nothing to figure out. Count to ten, take it in, this is life before you know who you're gonna be.. At fifteen.”

More than anything I wish I could go back and tell myself to appreciate this point in your life, and just enjoy not having too big of worries. I mean really my biggest concern was not wearing the same outfit twice within two weeks. This was before I even began to think of college applications, let alone college. Be fifteen while you can.

“But in your life you'll do things greater than dating the boy on the football team. But I didn't know it at fifteen.”

High school is really just a big popularity contest. Football is what my small town knows best. All throughout my four years of high school, I was always after the boy on the football team. The cliche football player and cheerleader. Please Paige, shoot for the stars. You will accomplish far better things than the star football player.

“When all you wanted was to be wanted. Wish you could go back and tell yourself what you know now.”

At fifteen, I spent so much time worrying about how other people viewed me. I put so much energy into working on my image I forgot to just be myself. If he doesn’t want you for who you are, save yourself some time and move on.

“Back then I swore I was gonna marry him someday but I realized some bigger dreams of mine.”

I could be anything in this world, and all I wanted to be was his. All that did was set my standards for myself so very low. I swore I had met the love of my life, but my life had barely even begun.

“Abigail gave everything she had to a boy who changed his mind, and we both cried.”

You can give somebody your all and still not be enough in their eyes. I often time regret wasting so much time devoting my time and efforts into somebody who was able to walk away from me without looking back.

“And when you're fifteen don't forget to look before you fall.”

I knew the risks, but I ignored the risks. Pay attention the red flags. Don’t get yourself caught up when you could see it coming from a mile away.

“I've found time can heal most anything and you just might find who you're supposed to be.”

Time heals all wounds, even if you still carry around the scars. In fact, the scars will fade with time too. At fifteen, you have so much time ahead of you. You are not supposed to have your life figured out at fifteen.

The thing about life is every time you learn a new lesson, there's just another one right around the corner. You never know everything. I know nothing compared to what I am going to know someday. And I think the last time I thought I knew everything, I was fifteen.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
