Moving into college for the first time is stressful and anyone who says differently is lying. I just moved into my freshman dorm and ran around like a chicken with my head cut off. With trying to find a check-in to lugging all the crap up the stairs that you didn't need but brought anyway. Just trying to set up all your stuff while not trying to step on your roommate or her parents is stressful enough. Here's my list of advice for those freshmen that have not moved in yet or those who will be a freshman in the future.

1. Put trash bags over your clothes while they are still on the hangers.

I did this and I was able to just hang it up in my closet and just take the bags off. It also meant that I had extra bags. My roommate just took hers off the hanger, folded them, and spent hours rehanging them all.

2. If your parents are helping you, pack your folded clothes in a suitcase and send it home with your parents.

I saved space because I didn't have to store it in my room and there was plenty of room for all my clothes.

3. Pack your items in categories.

For example, "desk" or "bedside". It makes it a lot when your parents or whoever is helping you move in insists on helping you unpack.

4. Bring plenty of command hooks because you will use them for EVERYTHING.

Also bring a range of sizes. Currently, my life is being held together by command hooks and that's not even an exaggeration.

5. Get to know your floormates.

They will be your first friends and are the ones who you'll be dining with most likely.

6. Leave your door open while you're in your room.

It's a great way to meet new people. Whenever someone walks by you can just say hey and introduce yourself.

7. Don't bring your entire room.

I packed way to much and I know it. I suggest only packing your fall clothes and some winter clothes.

8. Bring lots of water for you and your family because moving is hard.

Also get a water pitcher....

9. Be prepared to make a run to the local Walmart.

I forgot so much and even needed stuff that I didn't think about but that my roommate had.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
