I'm 22 years old. I'm a wife, a mom, and a student, and honestly, I wouldn't have it any other way. My life may have started differently compared to most after high school. I was married at 19 had a beautiful baby girl at 21, and decided to go after my own goals and start school for the degree I dreamed of at 22. So here is a little insight from a young mom learning the ways of doing it a little different and growing along the way.
After high school, there is this idea of what needs to happen to become a successful adult, whether that means going off to college, joining the military, or jumping into the workforce. But there are no guidelines for the young moms who are busting their butts to become a better mom, wife, and person altogether. It is perfectly okay to start 'backward' as I would call it as long as you still achieve your goals and become a better person.
Let's talk about marriage. It doesn't matter if you 19 or 89 when you decide to get married or spend your life with someone. One thing people about is the fact that everything needs to be timed perfectly. Nothing in this life is perfect, and you will never get anything perfectly timed. Don't let someone tell you that you're too young or too old for love or that you're not ready. Follow your heart and let it lead you to where you are supposed to be. And at the end of it, the two of you will set goals for yourselves as well as each other, and you will conquer life together.
Secondly, becoming a mother. That is the best and hardest thing. A child is a blessing, whether they are planned out or a surprise and nothing in this life can beat becoming a mother. When you are responsible for another little human being, their well-being is your top priority. It's incredible being a mother and watching your child grow and learn in front of you, and nothing in this world tops that.
So let's discuss what happens when these things happen before you can really 'find yourself' or complete the goals you had beforehand. You still go for them! When it comes to going after your dreams, you go after them because it's what you want, plus it betters your future as well as your family's. You won't be the best you if you don't take care of yourself as well. It doesn't matter where or how you start as long as you cross the finish line. Don't worry about the friends you'll lose along the way; if they were real friends, they would have stayed by your side and cheered on your successes. It may sound selfish but focus on you and your family. Don't be afraid to go after the job you wanted, or to go to school. It's never too late to chase your dreams and get an education.
