There are certain things that every person should know by the time they are in college, and there's a different list of things you should know when you enter your 20s -- things you should know for after you graduate, things you should know before.
Different stages of life mean you should know the answers to different questions. But as a college senior, in my early twenties; I have questions that I should know the answers to, but don’t.
I don’t know if it is because I didn’t pay attention or because no one really explained it. But here it is: five questions that I have because I am almost an “adult”.
1. How do you know how much to pay for rent??
When I got my apartment my mom told me my budget, my limit, and seemed to know all the ins and outs about apartment hunting. What to look for whether that be good things or red flags. But now that I am thinking about life after graduation, how much do I budget for my apartment?
2. Diamonds… What are the 4 Cs?
I understand carat, cut, color, and the other one. But like how much does a 1 carat diamond ring cost? And how much do people actually spend on that stuff? (asking for a friend)
3. What should a grocery bill really cost?
When I go home, my mom easily blows $150 on groceries that will last a week in our household. But if I have more than $50 in my bank account, and are trying to be healthier than ramen and frozen pizza every night. How much should an adult grocery bill for one look like?
4. How long before you should really ask for a raise?
I googled it and google said anywhere 4-8 months, with 6 months being the median. Is this right?
5. What is like the most important adult tool?
Like is it a crock pot? An actual bed frame? Twenty pairs of dress pants? I need to know. Because I only have one pair of dress pants.
Mom… I need you to answer these.
