I am True to AU.
There is something special about being able to represent your university, to work for admissions and see this university grow over your four years. Knowing that you might play just a small role in helping a prospective student chose Anderson University is a great feeling. Whether it's holding open the door for those families touring dorms, walking someone to their destination when they are lost, or just giving a friendly smile to a nervous high school student, every little thing matters. That's what working for Admissions as a College Ambassador means to me.
In Admissions, we focus on the "get to's." I get to meet and share my experiences with the future classes of Anderson University. I get to proudly wear my black and gold on event days. I get to show off our dressing rooms and stages to future Theatre majors. I get to show off our digital media lab to future Communications majors. I get to meet with the President's wife and hear her words of encouragement every once in a while. I get to be a College Ambassador.
When you love something, you love to talk about it- and that's exactly what I get paid to do in Admissions. How great is that? I tell families about my experiences in shows on campus, the friendships I've made from alpha group to those first freshmen classes, and how special this Christ-centered environment is. I talk about my professors who not only teach me, but who also care for me and encourage me on a personal and professional level. I get to brag about my school's accreditations, accomplishments, and awards (in a humble and kind way, of course). I want other people to have experiences here that are just as amazing and as challenging as my own.
Working as a College Ambassador has made me appreciate my school even more. I was once that nervous and quiet high schooler who saw confident, kind, and bubbly college students gush about their school. I wanted to be one of them. And now it is my turn to represent Anderson and the values that we stand for, to support the programs we offer, and to encourage and help the future students of our growing university. Working here is a "get to," not a "got to." Attending here is a "get to," not a "got to." I'm proud of my school and I'm blessed to be able to tell how this university is changing and growing, but also how it is changing and growing me. I am true to AU.
