Adele is a lot of things. She's incredibly talented, gracious, beautiful, and funny. Many other celebrities share these qualities with her, but there is one aspect of her character that makes her stand out among the rest: the fact that she stays true to herself. Adele's genuine love for what she does and ability to be an A-list celebrity yet still seem like the type of person you'd feel comfortable hanging out with is one of the many things that her fans love about her. The tickets to her latest tour, which she is currently on, sold out within minutes because people love her so much.
Because she is so popular, the NFL recently contacted her and asked her to perform in the 2017 Super Bowl Halftime Show, an honor that most artists would kill for. Surprisingly to many, she turned down the offer. The reason she turned it down though just proves that she really is the best. At her Saturday night show in Los Angeles, she explained that the reason she declined is because the Super Bowl is "not about the music." Adele is obviously one of the most talented singers of our time, and one of the things we all love about her is her raw voice. She doesn't use excessive auto tune or hide her voice with funky dance beats, she just sings from her heart. She is completely right that the Super Bowl usually chooses artists with popular dance songs.
Another reason she declined the offer is because of the dancing. She told her audience, "I can't dance or anything like that." I think it's great that Adele doesn't dance with her music. Her performances are strictly focused on her voice. The Super Bowl definitely is quite the spectacle. Artists usually accompany their performances with tons of lights, special effects, and backup dancers. Those are all things that Adele doesn't do. The fact that Adele doesn't want to change who she is for more fame or fortune just proves how awesome she really is. She told her fans, "I know I'm not Beyonce, I can't dance."
Despite the fact that she declined, Adele did say that the NFL did respect her decision. She said, "They were very kind, they did ask me, but I said no." It is good to see that they were kind about her rejection. I'm very interested to see who they end up choosing now to perform in Houston this coming February.
Rumors are circulating that Taylor Swift may be contacted and asked to perform instead. While Adele definitely won't be performing she did joke around by saying that she would reconsider performing in her next life if she ended up being a dancing pop star. She really is the best.
