Adapting To Change And New Beginnings

When one door closes, another one opens.

Adapting To Change And New Beginnings

I have never been a very strong proponent of change. The entire "ignorance is bliss" mentality did not sit well with me; it never has and it most likely never will. How could not knowing exactly what was going on right now and what will happen in the future be a comforting feeling?

That's the thing about new beginnings, they may come at the time you least expect but they will always be at the time that they are meant to happen. Some of the most unexpected changes can turn out to be the biggest blessings. Staying humble when things do fall in line, and staying hopeful when it feels like the entire world is scheming against you is important in life whether the change is good or bad.

Not everything will always work out no matter how hard you work toward it, but that is OK. It is simply not meant to be. Like the famous cliche phrase says, "When one door closes, another one opens." Sometimes certain things do not fall in line in order to make room for better things to come. You must learn to trust in the process of life and never give up on working towards your goals.

It is tempting to give up after having several doors slammed in your face. However, giving into this temptation is very dangerous. Giving up may not hurt you physically, but it could cause regret and a longing sense of "what if." Wondering what could have been if more opportunities were taken and wishing you would have done more is almost always what those on their death bed say they would have done differently.

There are countless examples of celebrities and executives that were rejected early on but continued to push toward greatness. Some of them include Oprah Winfrey who was fired from her first job in TV and J.K. Rowling whose Harry Potter series was rejected several times. If they would have given into rejection and not agreed to pursue change with different opportunities, we could not have their amazing works in our lives.

A long-distance runner does not give up when they get tired and weary, they keep going. Keep pushing, because you never know how close you might be to the finish line of your dream until you round the corner.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
