What Actually Happens When You're at the Library

Ahh the library. The perfect place to get all your homework and studying needs completed. No room for distractions whatsoever! Being at the library for hours can only ensure you the best of knowledge for the future! Well….most of the time. I mean, now that you mention it Buzzfeed, I have always wondered how my taste in bread can reveal a deep, dark truth about me…..

1. Find a spot

First, it is a process to find the perfect spot in the library. It has to be the perfect table in a room that’s not too quiet but not too loud. It has to be in the perfect placement where it’s not too close to someone else and their personal space but not too far away from everyone. When you’re with other people, this process can take even longer to find enough seats for the whole group.

2. Check all notifications

Of course, before getting down to business you have to check all the notifications so you’re not distracted. First email, then Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, and Instagram. You might even have to post a story to show all the followers how studious you really are.

3. Get to work

Now it’s finally time to get to work. Total, complete focus.

4. Reward yourself with a break

After a good 20 minutes, it’s time to reward yourself with a break. Time to check your phone for a quick five minutes…or maybe 10…

5. Back to work

15 minutes later it’s time to get back to work. Back to that solid concentration that can’t be broken.

6. Time for a snack

Until about 15 minutes later when it’s time for another break because you haven’t eaten in hours and the library café is just calling your name. They do have the best coffee after all. Maybe it will help you focus too, it’s a win-win!

7. Run into a friend

It’s just a matter of time before running into someone you know. That will consist of about 30 minutes of catching up. You have to say hi and make small talk, otherwise that would just be rude, right?

8. Try to study...again

Okay, now it’s time to really focus and get down to business. No more messing around, you actually need to get some studying done tonight.

9. That's enough for today

On second thought, it’s already getting pretty late. You’ve already put in a lot of hard work the past few hours. It’s probably time to head home and get caught up on some Netflix. You have an early class tomorrow so you need to get some good sleep anyways.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
