To Active Military Members And Their Families This Holiday Season

From the perspective of a general civilian, the holidays are typically associated with family, festivities, tradition, and an abundance of activity. Characterized as the "most wonderful time of the year", the holidays has many jingling with joy. One of my favorite past times to recall upon was when my grandma and I would annually watch the movie "Elf". I vividly remember the savory scents of whatever she had cooked in the kitchen that evening, and recalling the togetherness of this tradition is something I hold so dear to my heart and is something I consider myself so lucky to have experienced.

Often times, we fall blind to the reality that these commonly underrated luxuries we obtain come with a price.

As of 2017 alone, over two million individuals have served in the United States' Armed Forces. Two million individuals who may not get to spend the holidays with their families, and in return, the two million vacant chairs at the family dinner table.

Growing up, holidays for me were surrounded by endless laughter and the love of being together, and for the many who share this luxury with me, this holiday season, pray and acknowledge for those who have sacrificed their time so we can have our own.

I currently have a handful of loved ones who have and are currently serving their duties toward our beautiful nation. I am utterly grateful for these beautiful souls in my life and receiving their letters fill my heart with so much love. This holiday, please know that you are not forgotten.

This is a thank you to our active military forces and their families.

Thank you.

Thank you for making the ultimate sacrifice each and every day of your life. For leaving your loved ones behind and all that was familiar to serve and uphold the morals and values of our nation.

It is because of you that our nation remains strong; you keep the promises of the United States alive and serve to its values.

For military families, I can only imagine what it will be like to have the gap and incomplete feeling in your heart as one is missing from the gathering(s). Because of all you sacrifice, I, along with many others, am able to spend this holiday with those dearest.

It's easy to become forgetful of all of the blessings in our lives, but I, along with so many others, stand behind our troops. In support, in love, strength, and dignity, you are not forgotten. You are appreciated, even if at times it feels not so. We as a nation are blessed for these strangers to us consistently and each day choosing us.

I challenge all who see an individual in uniform to approach them with a firm and loving handshake in gratitude and love. It is because of those serving that we are able to live each and every day without constant fear and with security.

To those of active membership and their families, you hold a special place in my heart. I along with many others are so fortunate.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
