ABC has become the biggest spoiler of its own show, The "Bachelor"/"Bachelorette." It seems like recently, fans know how the season ends before it even starts. Newest bachelorette Racheal Lindsey has already released that she is happily engaged and in love, and while that’s awesome for her sometimes we just want them stay quiet and give us the mystery of not knowing whether any of the relationships works out in the end. Even last season fans were outraged when near the end ABC announced the newest bachelorette was Rachel Lindsey. Why the outrage? She was still competing on Nick’s season.
Last season, Nick Viall was "The Bachelor" and while still competing on the show, ABC announced that the next bachelorette would be Rachel Lindsey. There are several theories behind this move from ABC but even then, fans were outraged. One theory is that Nick’s season was to boring and they needed to ensure people were still interested for the next season. Nick’s season was exceptionally boring, but spoiling the end doesn’t make sense. Bachelor Nation isn’t going to bail just because of a few boring episodes. The other theory was that ABC wanted to cast guys specifically for Rachel and to do so they had to release that she would be the bachelorette. This theory makes more sense as to why they would release the news so early.
Things seemed okay; fans got over their frustration and waited for the end of Nick’s season. On After the Final Rose, fans got to see Nick and his winner Vanessa, then out comes our newest bachelorette, Rachel. This is pretty normal and things seemed good. Then it was announced that Rachel would be meeting her first four men… right then. Why these four couldn’t wait until the real deal? No clue. Was this a shock factor to get people interested? Probably. Honestly, it just made me wonder how they picked these four guys, and what did they have to do to get the early advantage on the other guys?
Yesterday, E News reported that Rachel was engaged and in love. ABC… seriously what’s the reason for this move? Part of what makes the show so good is because it keeps viewers on their toes and always leaves the chance that in the end, the bachelor/bachelorette could end up alone. While it is understandable that ABC needs to make headlines and keep ratings up, spoiling the show is getting old.
People love the Bachelor/Bachelorette. People are going to watch the show no matter what. We made it through a season with Nick Viall; it can only get better from here. That being said ABC, please stop giving away information, we actually want to watch the season for ourselves!
