St. Louis Cathedral
As a St. Louis resident, I felt the need to go inside. The tall ceilings and stained glass were easy to appreciate, but I was more a fan of the exterior. The building is so well balanced, and Jackson Square is right across from it. Making it a perfect place for pictures. We caught a street acrobat show in the entrance which slightly offset the church vibe, but I enjoyed it.
Bourbon Street
Iconic New Orleans. Such a lively part of the city and so many bars. I'll be back to appreciate it in full glory when I'm 21.
Hollygrove
The Holy Mecca, according to rapper Lil Wayne. A run-down sanction outside of New Orleans. Lil Wayne grew up here and as a fan of his music, my friends knew this would be a place I wanted to see. I've been unknowingly rapping along to lyrics about this place for a while now.
Tulane
One of the prettiest college campuses I've ever seen, and in a prime location too. You know for sure the girls who go here listen to Billie Eilish because they all look like her. Not my usual crowd, but these kids work hard and play harder.
St. Charles Ave
My friends say the people who live here are part of the 1%. The houses along this street are stunning and decorated for Mardi Gras the way most people decorate for Christmas. It is also one of the main Mardi Gras parade routes, so I will be back soon!
Cafe Du Monde
We visited the City Park location. It was my first time having beignets and they were delicious! I was covered in powdered sugar afterward but that is the fun of it. I also got a frozen coffee that paired well with the beignets. Coffee still in hand, we walked around the sculpture park located near Cafe Du Monde.
I'm so thankful to have friends who opened up their homes to me for the weekend, and more importantly, showed me their city!
