To my university and everything that came along with it

A Thank You Letter

Dear UK,

Thank you for the best four years of my life. Seriously, the past eight semesters have equaled up to nothing less than life changing and exceptionally memorable. When I walk across that graduation stage, my diploma will represent an accomplishment that goes far beyond an educational achievement. You've given me so many incredible opportunities I would have never experienced had I not chosen to come here, and for that, I will forever be thankful.

Greek Life: Without the positive reputation of Greek life on our campus, I would have never joined a sorority. Because of you, this only child gained hundreds of sisters for life who I can rely on, cry on, and count on always. My organization has opened my eyes to the importance of looking outside our own little bubble and working to make an impact on the world. The Greek community here is incomparable and without a doubt one of the best gifts you have given me.

Best Friends for Life: High school friendships are special, but the friendships at UK will last a lifetime and more. Thanks to you, I found my future bridesmaids and the most incredible souls to grow old with.

The World: If it weren't for you, I never would have taken an 8 hour plane ride across the pond and lived in Europe for a semester (the best semester of my life, I might add). Needless to say, I am a more tolerant and empathetic human being after experiencing life on another continent, and none of that would have been possible without you.

My Education: I won't lie to you here, I still resent you for all those sleepless nights and Starbucks fueled cram sessions. But without them, I wouldn't feel as prepared as I do to go out into the real world with the utmost confidence that I will succeed in my field. Minus that one random bio class I took as a freshman. I still suck at biology.

A Legacy Unmatched: It goes without saying I'll be a Wildcat till the day I die, and that's mainly because of the unmatched experience of being apart of the #BBN! Thanks for letting me bleed blue with you for the past four years, it's been fun.

Thanks for the memories, big blue. Because of you, my life will never be the same, and I couldn't be happier.

Sincerely,

A Senior

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
