How to get Through a Mid Semester Slump

It never fails by the time midterms roll around it seems like all your motivation has vanished

By the time midterms come around somehow all the motivation you had at the begging of the semester to get good grades, study, and be the better version of yourself has vanished. I want to first start off by saying we have all been there I have no idea what happens and I wish I did so I could prevent it , but somehow around this time of the semester you just cant seem to find motivation to get through it. This is always the worst time because you are drowning in tests, papers, homework, etc so I want to offer some tips that you can establish in your life when you are going through these slumps to try and get you out of it as soon as possible.

Make a change, whether it is the place that you study, or something in your daily routine sometimes a change in scenery can positively impact you and your study habits. For example if you normally study in your room why not switch it up and go to the library, a new space can make you want to study.

Just cry it out, this one might seem so weird but trust me it really does help. When going through these slumps it can be so frustrating you want nothing more then to finish out the semester and keep the good grades that you have worked so hard to maintain. I honestly just think give yourself 10 minutes of crying get all the frustration, anger, or anything else that you are feeling out of your system, however once those 10 minutes are up start over. Getting out all those feelings allows you to get a fresh start you do not have anything holding you back.

Get away for a second, again this one might seem a little counter productive. However, when you step away and let yourself relax by going out with your friends for example. It allows for you to clear your mind I find that a lot of the reason I am in the slump is i stress myself out to the point that I just shut down. Take time to enjoy your life and have a bit of social time, but once that is over make yourself sit down and really focus on the tasks that you have to get done.

Make a to do list... I am most definitely a person who plans out their whole life, and for me I find that on the days that I am in a slump and I cannot seem to find motivation to do anything if I write everything down I want/need to get accomplished and it truly helps out. Depending on which one you want to do you can either make to do lists on a daily basis and just write down whatever you feel like you need to get done or you can either do it week by week. There is something about checking things off the list makes you feel so accomplished and can boost your motivation.

We all have someone in our lives that whenever we talk to them it never fails they know all the perfect things to say. Whether it is a parent, a friend, or a role model confiding in them can make you feel a lot better about your situation and might even give you tips to get past the slump.

Spend time for yourself. I wrote in an article before about how to have the perfect spa night and I would recommend reading that if you are going through a slump because spending time for yourself and giving yourself a night to relax really can help.

Just breathe because you've got this, you will graduate and you will get the grades!!!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
