An Open Letter To My Best Friend Of 13 years

Wow, we're about to graduate high school... crazy.

HEY! We made it! We graduated!

Dude, you've been my best friend since kindergarten. That's 13 years! You've been there for the whole roller coaster. You've been there through the highs and the absolute lows.

You've been through the bullies, the fallouts we had, the parties, the relationships, the heartbreaks, and the drama. The times my parents were getting on my nerves, the happiness, and the sadness. From kindergarten to now, as we're graduating high school, you've been there every step of the way.

You won't be at Rowan next year, but I know you'll visit me as much as you possibly can. My dorm is always open when you need someone. I'll be here always.

We've been so close for so long, through so much crap life has thrown at us. We had our ups and downs, but we've only grown closer. There is no one else that I am certain will be there for the rest of the journey, but I know for a fact you will. They say that friendships over 10 years last a lifetime, and I know that our friendship will.

We shared so many firsts together. First boyfriends. First heartbreaks. My first party. My first concert ("GERALD"). The family reunion that you didn't want to go to alone. All our childhood memories, like the playground where we have that iconic picture of us upside down on monkey bars.

We have so many memories, and I know that the end of high school doesn't mean the end of them. We have a ton more we have to make!

Thank you for the parties. Thank you for introducing me to new people. Thank you for buying me food when I'm sad. Thank you for giving some good advice.

Thank you for being the one I do crazy things with. Thank you for those movie nights where we eat a ton of food. Thank you for all the sleepovers. Thank you for driving me everywhere.

Thank you for ranting about how crappy guys have treated me and how I don't deserve that crap on your Snapchat. Thank you for the endless laughs. Thank you for being the one I go to when I'm having a rough time and always knowing how to cheer me up. Thank you for everything you do for me.

You stayed by my side all these years, and I am so eternally grateful for that.

I know we're going to separate colleges next year, but they're only 45 minutes away from each other. I'll come home as often as I can and, of course, you're always welcome to stay in my dorm. I'll always be here for you, no matter what terms we're on or how far we are from each other. I'll always be just one text or call away.

I'm so proud of who you have become already, and I know you'll only continue growing into an even more beautiful human being. I can't wait to see you grow and accomplish your goals! I love you, best friend.

Love,

Your best friend

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Whether you met your new love interest online, through mutual friends, or another way entirely, you'll definitely want to know what you're getting into. I mean, really, what's the point in entering a relationship with someone if you don't know whether or not you're compatible on a very basic level?

Consider these 21 questions to ask in the talking stage when getting to know that new guy or girl you just started talking to:

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
