A Letter To My Baby Sister

I can't believe that you're really here.

A Letter To My Baby Sister
Taylor Contarino

To my little sister,

You haven't even said 'da-da' yet, but I can't wait for you to say your first word. More so, I can't wait for us to be able to have sister-sister conversations. I can't wait to hear all about your first crush, first kiss, first report card, sport, best friend, school dance, car, etc. I always have your back. It's a ride or die type thing. When you need me, I'll be here, whether it be if i'm upstairs in my room, driving, at a sporting event, or even away at college all the way across the country.

I love you more than you will ever know. I don't mind waking up at 6 am for finals week at high school after holding you for an hour or so until midnight last night. It's totally worth it for these precious sister bonding moments. Because I don't know where I will be in a couple years- so I enjoy these moments while I can and I don't take them for granted.

I love the fact that everyone comes to see you, and that they love the heck out of you. You deserve to be cuddled up in a bundle of love. I love running your Instagram account- even though everyone knows that you did not take that selfie, and you did not post up those emojis...

I love picking your outfits even though I know they are probably gonna be peed on or eaten on in a couple of hours. I love the fact that you're pretty much my real-life Barbie Doll. Tutus and princess crowns? You don't even mind- well, maybe because you're sleeping like 95% of the time.

I love the fact that you're slowly growing up and becoming "human" before my very own eyes. At first, I just didn't even see you as a tiny human. I saw you as a little baby who probably wouldn't even recognize me until she turned like 2 or 3. But you seriously already have a personality. You do little things that make me realize you are a human. I love when you smile!

I hate when you cry. It makes me sad and I just can never figure out what you're thinking. Like, did I do something wrong? Or do you just want a bottle? The world and myself may never know.

Everything I do from now on will be for you. I want to make sure that I am an awesome role model for you, and teach you how to live the best, most successful, happiest life ever.

I want to inspire you to 'live your best life.' I want you to live with no regrets, have a great time in everything that you do, and spend as much time as possible laughing and being happy, surrounded by people who make you feel loved, wanted, and beautiful. I love you so much and I cannot wait to see everything that you accomplish in your life. Always remember that you are a beautiful, independent, strong, stunning, loved, and wanted woman. I love you forever, whether I'm a mile away or 5,000.

Love always,

Your big sister

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
