At one point in time, there was a decade that was known as the 'last best decade.' Besides the 1980s swag and introduction to many many other things, this was the next best thing. A decade called the 1990s. I was born in the year 1994, also known as the "chaotic year." The reason being, well let's take a look. Between OJ, Nancy and Tonya, the debut of The Notorious BIG, and the death of one of grunge music's fallen hero Kurt Cobain.
You could say the middle of the decade was event filled. I'm happy to say that I am a child from one of the craziest and most exciting decades. There is nothing like the 90s, and there is definitely nothing like 90s music. You can go into any restaurant, any bar, or go shopping to listen to any tunes from the 90s. Over the summer I went to an outside bar on Long Island located in the Hampton Bays that played extensive throwbacks back to back. The best part is, you would never get sick of it. You would find yourself knowing every word to every song without even realizing it.
I can't express anything more than just excitement whenever I listen to music. There is a joy that comes from it, and a memory that I always remember. Everyone has a song from that decade that makes them feel something. Whether it be happy, sad, angry, or anxious. Sure, with all of our popular songs from the artists that we know and love today, there will definitely never be another decade like the 90s. Eventually, when I have children and grandchildren, I will never get tired telling them about the decade I was born in. All the excitements, all the controversies, and even a moment when we all thought the world was going to end before the new millennium, aka Y2K. In a time where everything was carefree yet scandalous, there will never EVER be another! Those were the times that were irreplaceable. *Sigh*.
