Disney. It automatically elicits a smile on your face. Disney has created some of the most beloved and cherished movies and characters of all time. Some of these movies, however, are not as well known as others. Here are a few of my favorite underrated Disney movies.
1. Up (2009)
The first 10 minutes of this movie will rip your heart out and make you sob like a baby. It's going to happen. It's also one of the absolute best Disney-Pixar movies ever. Definitely a must-see.
2. The Princess and the Frog (2009)
This movie is extremely unique because it utilized the old techniques of creating some of the best Disney classics. The music is fantastic and will put a smile on your face.
3. Mulan (1998)
"I'll Make a Man Out of You" is such a jam. Mulan screams girl power and will make you feel super tough. Every girl should want to be like Mulan after watching this movie. This one needs the love!
4. Tangled (2010)
Flynn Ryder is the ultimate Disney babe. The music is fabulous and truly makes you believe in dreams. You will be seeing the light through a huge smile by the time it's over.
5. Tarzan (1999)
Tarzan has some of, if not the best, Disney music ever. Hands down. Don't even try to deny it. "You'll Be In My Heart" instantly makes you cry and want to hug your mom. Grab the tissues for this one, you're going to need them.
6. The Rescuers (1977)
This one is a little bit older, but it's a classic. What it lacks in music, it gains in excitement. It is so clever and does what Disney does best, bringing to life beloved characters you can't help but love.
7. Oliver and Company (1988)
The music is Billie Joel. Do I even need to say more. It's fabulous and will not disappoint. "Why Should I Worry" will get stuck in your head. Trust me. But it's definitely worth it.
8. Hercules (1997)
Bless my soul, Herc is on a roll! This movie is the perfect combination of humor, music, and heart. With an all-star cast, you'll enjoy yourself from the beginning to end. Plus, who can't help put laugh at the classic, "What are those?"
9. The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996)
This one is a little bit on the more edgy and mature side of all the Disney movies, but it's message is so important. It strives for people to not judge others by their looks, but rather what's on the inside. The deep underlying message combined with a fantastic score by Alan Menken make this a must see.
Disney never fails to disappoint and all of these movies certainly do not. They may not be as popular as some of the others, but they should be. They are all amazing and need the love that they deserve! So sit back, relax, and enjoy some Disney magic.
