It seems as if everyone is enjoying their spring break by going on an adventurous trip, while you are sitting at home with your pet. You decided to cancel a crazy spring break trip because you are trying to save money, have no money, or just did not not feel like it.
Although you are at home, you still want to post cool Instagram pictures for all your friends to see. But what can you do? It is your hometown; most people here are working or still in school. You have also done everything here you could possibly think about doing. To help you out, here are some ideas to get those Insta-worthy pictures:
1. Visit with old friends from school who are stuck in town, like you
Chances are that there is someone who is bored at home, too. Find someone at home and go to your favorite spot in town or have an old-fashioned sleepover. Maybe recreate your favorite picture with that person. Instagram followers love recreations.
2. Eat at a restaurant in town you have never dared to try
It could be that shack in the country or that one that replaced a fast food chain, but just go for it. Your stomach might be upset with you later, but hey, life is all about taking chances. Hopefully, you will discover a new favorite or realize there's nothing like your grandma's home-cooking.
3. Take advantage of the scenery in your area
Go for a hike, fish in a pond, or visit the lake. Find a national park close by to visit and explore. Instagram goes crazy for cool nature pictures.
4. Visit a museum in your town
Even one stoplight towns usually have history museums. You might learn something interesting about your town or your ancestors. Maybe you have somehow made it into the museum archives! Find a cool exhibit, take a picture, and post it with a cool caption to prove just how cool being at home can be.
5. Spend some QT with your family
You aren't usually home for a week straight, so enjoy it with your family. Bring back family game night or watch home movies to see your cute baby self. Your family probably has gotten really cool since you have left, so catch up on all the awesome stuff they have done. A candid with your mom or a crazy pose with your dad will be a perfect picture with tons of captions for you to use.
6. Window shop throughout your town
Your town might only have two shops to browse, but who knows what you could find? That old antique shop might have something that could be used for a really artsy picture.
7. Devote your week to getting your body summer-ready
You have a whole week with nothing to do, so you might as well be productive. Go to the gym or go for a run. You might not be able to get a perfect Instagram photo, but you will be ready for all the summer posts in your future.
8. Catch up on your homework or your Netflix shows
I group these two together because most of the time, homework turns into binge-watching. Maybe you will get all your work done, so you have none to worry with when you get back to school. Or maybe you will watch every season of your Netflix show so you can start the next one you are dying to watch. Not many photo ops here, but be creative! Maybe you will find great captions for future posts through homework/Netflix.
9. Most of all, SLEEP
During school, sleep is optional for most students. Use your spring break to catch on some ZZZs, so you can be refreshed to finish out the remaining semester strong. Sleep selfies aren't popular on Instagram yet, but maybe you can be the one to start that trend.
Whatever you decide to do, make sure to have some fun over your break. Do not compare your break to your friend's travel pictures. You can have just as much fun right where you are. Sure, it might be difficult, but I think you are up for the challenge.
Enjoy spring break while we still have it! Most jobs do not include this type of break.
HAPPY SPRING BREAK!
