When you move in with a friend it can go one of two ways: it either makes your friendship stronger or destroys it completely. For me and my roommate, we definitely got closer after we moved-in together and I believe that is because there are certain things you learn when friends live together.
1. You spend an insane amount of time together
It’s obvious that you spend a lot of time with someone while living with them, but you never really know how much until you actually have to.
2. You learn about each other’s weird habits
My roommate finds it weird that I will eat cereal for almost every meal and eat peanut butter and baloney sandwiches. I find it strange that she owns over 50 shades of lipstick and refers to pop as soda when she is from Ohio.
3. You will walk in on some awkward moments
You’re going to walk in on some strange things.
4. You get really comfortable around each other
Sitting around in running shorts, sports bras, and no make up is pretty much a regular in our apartment. There is no one to impress but each other and at some point you don’t feel the need to anymore.
5. You become each other’s enablers
I keep her from spending her money and she forces me to get my school work done. Although that never lasts very long.
6. You stop caring about how stupid you seem
We once had an entire conversation about how to spell the word ‘tomorrow.’ There is maybe one other person I would not be embarrassed to have that conversation with, it’s just something you get over when you live with one of your friends.
7. You act weird with each other and you don’t care
At one point my roommate put on her middle school playlist in the car and when the ‘Pokemon Rap’ came on she proceeded to sing along and dance to it.
8. You suddenly become a therapist
Boyfriend troubles, parents, siblings; you vent all your frustrations to each other.
9. You start a new mission to find new ways to bug each other
We have thrown things and hit each other with foam swords; all for the sake of boredom and needing something to do.
