Going through recruitment and joining one of the 12 Panhellenic sororities on my campus, was by far the best decision I have made in college. I do not know where I would be without my sorority. I have made my best friends and have had so many amazing opportunities through greek life. Here are 9 things to thank your sorority for.

1. Your sorority house.

Having a comfortable place to come to during class breaks or just to chill is always a plus.

2. The food.

Who does not love free food?! I mean it is not technically "free," it is included in our dues, but it is always nice to have a somewhat home cooked meal in college.

3. Your big.

Having a big in your sorority is a great thing. Your big is always there for you, gives you loads of gifts and amazing memories.

4. Philanthropies.

Each sorority puts on events to make money for their causes they support. Philanthropies provide girls with volunteering experience and leadership. Not to mention, they are also super fun!

5. Older sisters.

Having older girls in your sorority that have already experienced a lot of college life is always an advantage. They can help you out socially and academically.

6. The greek community.

It is always nice to have friends in other greek chapters on campus. We are all one big community.

7. Helping you academically.

Sororities provide great measures to make sure you are academically stable. Everything from your sisters helping you out with schoolwork to study parities and study hours.

8. Sorority clothes.

Being in a sorority, you acquire tons of sorority clothes throughout your years. I am only a freshman and more than half of my wardrobe is my letters.

9. The friendships you have made for life.

My sorority has granted me with so many amazing friendships with people I would of never met if I did not join.

I am so thankful for my sorority and the opportunities it has provided me.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register.
