9 Things My College Roommate Taught Me

I don’t have any sisters, so I’ve always had my own room back home. When I started college, I didn’t know what to expect regarding the roommate experience. I was excited, but I knew it was going to be really different to what I was used to because there would be little privacy. Nevertheless, I am so grateful for my current roommate, and I could not imagine my life in college without her.

Here are some things she taught me.

1. There is no limit to the amount of naps you can take in a single day.

I’ll never forget the day you napped at 10 am and 12 pm on a Sunday morning.

2. Matcha is disgusting

I can’t believe you love it. Thanks to you, I learned I need to stay away from it.

3. You can become addicted to chocolate

Throwback to the time you quit chocolate and had the worst withdrawal symptoms.

4. Kombucha is good for you…I think

I’ll never get tired of trying your hippie foods/drinks because you’re a box full of surprises.

5. You can be allergic to tequila

Let’s just say that I do not envy you… you are “allergic” to the best kind of alcohol in the world.

6. We should all have the spirit of happy campers like you

Thank you for taking me with you to your adventures at the park, which include crossing some sketchy trails.

7. We should always step out of our comfort zone

Because you’re the only weirdo who goes to a concert by herself and “pushes” me to do crazy things.

8. Being a strong, independent woman is not difficult

It only takes some power posing before business interviews to accomplish it haha.

9. Home is where the heart is

Thank you for making college my second home.

S/o to the future roomies, Niki and Manu <3 I can’t wait to live with you guys.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
