What's better than a holiday dedicated to food and being with loved ones?

Thanksgiving is a holiday dedicated to eating good food, being thankful, and being home with friends and family. Here are my top 10 reasons why Thanksgiving is one of the best holidays.

1. The Food.

Turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce, hot rolls, gravy, and fruit salad. From mashed potatoes to pumpkin pie, there are a variety of dishes to choose from.

2. Family and Friends.

Thanksgiving is the one day a year when there's no reason to be doing anything else. Whether you see your family every day or once a year, Thanksgiving is the one time dedicated to eating and hanging out with loved ones. What's better than that?

2. Post Meal Nap.

There's nothing better than stuffing your face with grandma's home-made pie and crashing on the couch after a Thanksgiving meal. Thanksgiving is the only holiday dedicated to eating and being lazy, so why not make the best use of it?

After all, your body deserves to rest after spending hours cooking.

3. PIES.

Everyone knows that the best part of Thanksgiving is the home-made pies. Cherry pies, pumpkin pies, blueberry pies, chocolate pies... the list goes on and on.

4. Leftovers.

Thanksgiving is the meal that keeps on giving. Every year, people cook way too much food for on purpose. Count on having turkey sandwiches and mashed potatoes for every meal all the way through January.

5. Black Friday Deals.

What's better than deals on everything?

6. Start of Holiday Season.

Thanksgiving marks the time to start decorating for the Holidays with Christmas lights, light up houses, gnomes wreaths, and mistletoe. Also, it's never too early for Christmas music.

7. Turkey Trot.

There's no better way to get ready for a big Thanksgiving feast than a quick run to strengthen your appetite.

8. Going Home.

College is great, but there’s nothing like going back to your hometown. There's nothing better than revisiting old friends places and sleeping in your own room and in your own bed.

9. Giving Thanks

Although it's so easy, this is something we don't do enough. This Thanksgiving, remember to give thanks for everything and everyone you are thankful for.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
