Being a picky eater isn't the easiest thing in the world. Some of us don't even like being picky; I wish I could be brave enough to eat that lamb burger, but you will never see me shove that animal in my mouth. Every meal is such a struggle and if you are a picky eater, these things seem way too familiar:
1. The waiter glare. Hi, I'll have the chicken sandwich. But, no tomatoes, pickles, lettuce, and can I have ranch on the side? With an extra side of ranch. Oh, and can I add american cheese? *Cue the waiter glare*
2. Being made fun of when you settle for chicken fingers. No, I don't like all of these weird food items I can't even read or understand. Chicken fingers are good everywhere, right? I'll take them. Don't forget the fries!
3. Wanting to eat at the same place over and over. It is comfortable. I know what I get. I know how they make the food. I know if I get the "waiter glare" or not. So yes, we are going there again.
4. Why is this food touching that food?! If I wanted my food all together, I would have gotten one of those weird salads that I can't pronounce. Please think of the picky and don't give us all of these conflicting flavors all at once.
5. Cheese pizza. Need I say more? Something so simple, yet so so amazing. That is how pizza is supposed to be, right? Supreme? What. No. Who could possibly eat 3 meats at once...ALL ON ONE THING? Who are you people?
6. The same grocery list...every.single.week. I like what I make. And I like what I eat. So, why mix it up? Let's grab some pasta, pasta sauce, mac & cheese, chicken fingers, salad (if we are feeling risky that week), and blue Gatorade...just blue.
7. Fear of the drive-thru. Don't get me wrong, the people working the drive thru are great people and give me my food way too quickly, before I can even decide what I want to order. But, what if they don't hear me ask for my burger without those chopped up onions or if I don't want mayo on my McChicken? What if I don't get my extra Zax Sauce? Is the pickle touching my food?! CHECK. NOW. Uggggggh anxiety.
8. Steak houses feel normal. Yes, just a steak. Oh, everyone else is getting one too? Finally, I am not boring or weird or annoying.
9. Thanksgiving is easy. Lemme grab some of that turkey, mashed potatoes, and bread. Thanks, now the rest of you can enjoy your feast.
Sorry, we make things complicated or annoy the waiter to the point where he doesn't come back for 30 minutes. That food just doesn't sound appealing and honestly, why would I try it? We try to branch out, but the picky life was made for us.
