9 Things We Need To Know About "Big Brother"
Carter Matt

Ah, Big Brother. The best reality competition show on American television, if you ask me. 16 people, 3 months, 1 house, infinite drama. For those of you who have never watched the hit CBS show, the houseguests compete in a challenge to crown one of them as the Head of Household (HOH) for the week. This person must nominate two other houseguests for eviction. Then, the HOH, nominees, and 3 other randomly selected houseguests compete in the Power of Veto (POV) competition in order for one of them to win this power and have the option to remove one nominee from the nomination block.

If a nominee is removed, the HOH has to replace them on the block with another houseguest. Finally, the week concludes with a vote of all of the houseguests, minus the HOH and nominees, to decide who will be exiting the Big Brother house. The cycle then repeats until there is one person left standing.

There are so many more details of the show, including dietary restrictions, funny competition punishments, showmances, and lots of good, old fashioned drama. There have been new twists added to the game as the time has passed, and this 19th season is definitely not disappointing. Between the den of temptation, 3 showmances, countless rivalries, a broken foot, and a ton of surprises, I don't think that anybody could get bored with this crazy season (I'm definitely rooting for Elena and Mark to win the game, and to continue dating #Marlena).

However, after having watched most of the seasons of this show, I have a few questions about the show that I think many others wonder about as well.

1. What do the houseguests see when they are in the Diary Room (DR)?

2. Who is the voice of "Big Brother" that tells houseguests to go to the DR or to put their microphones on?

3. What is in slop? What does it taste like?

4. How do the houseguests wake up? Does production sound an alarm or play music throughout the house?

5. Do the houseguests have to be awake from 10am to 10pm every day and are expected to be sleeping from 10pm to 10am?

6. Does somebody come in and clean the house for them?

7. How do families set up HOH baskets and letters?

8. How do the show's creators come up with such crazy and intricate competitions?

9. Why is there only one toilet for all of the houseguests besides the HOH?

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
