9 Things To Be Thankful For If You're From Las Vegas

This holiday season is a great time to remind ourselves to be thankful. If you're from Las Vegas, you have even more to be thankful for! So, stuff your face with turkey and nom on those mashed potatoes while we rundown all of the amazing things us Las Vegas residents should be grateful for this Thanksgiving!

1. The Strip And Its Never-Ending Beauty And Entertainment

"I think the history behind it is absolutely fascinating, and going to explore the hotels is one of my favorite things to do. Not to mention, there's nothing prettier in this city than the neon lights at night." - Roy Mendez.

"I'm thankful for all of the interesting people-watching you can do with the people of the strip." - Savanna Strott

2. The REAL City That Never Sleeps

3. The Traffic Ain't No Thang

"I'm thankful that our "traffic" isn't even considered "traffic" when compared to other major cities." - Savanna Strott

4. We Never Need To Buy Down Coats

"I'm thankful for our lack of winter because I do not like the cold." - Savanna Strott

5. The Seasons, Or Lack Thereof

"I'm thankful for the one tree on [UNLV's] campus that lost its leaves and made it feel like fall." - Merissa-Elise McFarland

6. The Worldly Cuisine Found At Casino Buffets

"I'm thankful for casino buffets and how I can eat any combination of food from all over the world and have as much as I want." - Taylor Lane

7. People From All Walks Of Life

I think it truly is cool that, living in a big city, it's unlikely you'll see the same person twice and the fact that there's so many different nationalities and personalities here compared to like a small farm town is amazing and I'm thankful I get to grow up in such a diverse and open community." - Claire Braggs

8. Friendly And Welcoming Residents

"I'm thankful for how nice and welcoming everyone is here " - Erin Ryan

9. You're Like A Unicorn To Your Non-Las Vegas Friends

"I'm thankful that every time I go out of town and tell someone I'm from Vegas they look at me like I'm some cool, mythical creature. " - Savanna Strott

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
