9 Activities More Worth Your Time Than Studying For Exams

Does anyone really want to read their textbook?

The middle of the semester is here, and while that means that you're closer to break, it also means that there are midterms and papers to do, and the motivation to do these things is practically nonexistent. Here are some things that would be more fun and easier than sitting down and studying for yet another midterm.

1. Take a nap

Let's face it; textbooks are boring. Whenever I sit down and try to read one, I have to make sure that I don't fall asleep accidentally. A nap always sounds appealing, especially when you're avoiding responsibilities.

2. Watch Netflix

Netflix doesn't judge you when you're binging a TV show instead of studying. There's no better time to start a new show than when you should be studying!

3. Take a walk

Campus is really pretty, and if the weather is nice, why would you want to sit inside studying?

4. Test the campus safety system*

There are the blue lights scattered all around campus, but does anyone really know how they work? Why not take a nice study break, and try something new?

*This is a crime, so please don't actually do this

5. Schedule for next semester

Productive procrastination is almost not procrastination. There's nothing quite as fun as stressing over two semesters at the same time and setting yourself up for another semester of exams.

6. Cleaning your room

Again, productive procrastination. As a stress cleaner, I feel a lot better after reorganizing my whole room, even if that means that I haven't opened a textbook yet.

7. Destress

Exams are always accompanied by stress, and it's important to take care of yourself too. If you don't want to take the time to study, at least take the time to be there for yourself.

8. Explore the city

Ohio State is very close to the Short North and Downtown Columbus; there's no reason that a nice study break can't be exploring the city with some friends. Treat yourself to new things as a pre-ward.

9. Create something

Art therapy is popular for a reason. It's easy a fun way to de-stress, and you have something pretty that you can admire that made the hours pass by much faster than when reading a textbook.

Exams are hard to find the motivation to study for, but if you're doing something else, you at least might forget that you needed to study for at least a little bit.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
