9 Diverse Songs That Will Help Your Creative Juices Start Flowing

I might be listening to one of them right now.

Everyone has their own way to help them out with their writing. Some would sit outside in the nice beauty of nature, or maybe a nice coffee shop with whatever their normal coffee order is, or they have their crazy writing ritual like starting their day on a specific time and then go from there. Or write naked. But my normal writing habit has always been to get in a comfy spot (at home it's in my basement and in my dorm it's on my bed) and pull up YouTube and start listening to certain songs. It always changes depending on what is currently out and while my list of songs is quite a long one, here are 9 songs that I currently listen to whenever I write.

1. The Halo Theme song.

Yes, I am starting off with a video game theme song. But after marching a video game show at the last football game and Halo being the song we started out with, I came to enjoy the song and it gives me a vibe to help with writing.

Also, it brought back nostalgia because when I was little I used to play the game Halo.

2. DNA by BTS.

The most recent release from the internationally acclaimed K-Pop group, the upbeat rhythm keeps my creative mind flowing, and while I have no clue what they are singing at some points (except for when they speak English) I still love the song along with their other songs.

3. Too Much To Ask by Niall Horan.

Kind of a change in pace, but the former One Direction member recently comes out and gives us a ballad about heartbreak, perfect for if I want to write about something heartfelt and maybe tug at the strings.

Also, side note, One Direction please get back together soon.

4. Go Big or Go Home by American Authors.

The title says it all. Go big or go home. It's a sort of motivational song to keep me going with writing, and the banjo in the song is what gets me hooked with the song, along with the indie vibe I get from it. It also brings back memories from junior year of high school because that song was used a lot when involving the class of 2016.

5. Crying in the Club by Camila Cabello.

It's catchy, okay? I wasn't a big Fifth Harmony fan but I like this song. It's upbeat and it's just another song to get the juices flowing.

6. Humble by Kendrick Lamar.

Yes, shocker. I don't listen to rap as much, but this song is a song to just hook you and whenever I would write something, I would go back to this song.

7. Attention by Charlie Puth.

I listened to this for a bit while writing over the summer, but after seeing Charlie Puth open up for Shawn Mendes on August 2nd at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland and he played this song, this song found it's spot on my playlist.

8. Back To You by Louis Tomlinson, Bebe Rexha, and Digital Farm Animals.

Yes, I'm back with a song from another former One Direction member, but Louis was actually my favorite One Direction member when I first started loving One Direction and he still is (he and Niall are like super freaking close for the top). It's one of those songs that while I'm not a big listener to the genre, I like this song. It's basically "Humble" but it's dance and such.

I plead this one more time, One Direction it's been over two years since you announced the hiatus and I'm glad you're all successful in your solo careers (including Liam and Harry), but PLEASE COME BACK!!

9. Hey Mama by EXO-CBX

Back again with K-Pop. Some K-Pop groups are known to have little subgroups, and EXO-CBX, coming out of the main group EXO, has this bop that I would describe the same as when I described DNA; upbeat rhythm and I can't understand a good chunk of the lyrics except the English lyrics.

I could go on with other songs that I listen to, but there's only so many different songs in the world and I am just one person who doesn't have the time to listen to them. My music taste is different than my brother's, my friend's, my parents', and my roomate's music taste. It also changes every day. So in conclusion, not one music taste is the same.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
