9 Signs You're Ready To Go Back To College

If you don't miss it, you're not at the right school

I have hit the summer slump. The second we entered July, I hit it hard. I am sick of being home and I'm ready to get back to school. The peaceful cloud that surrounded my house when I first came home has worn off and I remember the reason I never wanted to leave school.

My heart is there. It’s a happy place and the people I love most in the world are in the same building as me. If you aren’t missing school yet then you’re probably not at the right college, but either way, here are some clear signs you’re ready to get back.

1. You crave ramen.

Maybe that's just me but when it gets close to dinner time the first thing that comes to mind is “Oh, I’ll just make some ramen now and then maybe make some popcorn later”. Then I realize that I could just have a home cooked meal.

2. Making plans has gotten hard.

When you first get home for the summer, all of your friends try to plan as much stuff to do together as possible to make up for lost time. But as summer gets into full swing, jobs and vacations start getting in the way, and now it’s hard to even get together with one friend.

3. You spend most of your day looking through Snapchat memories.

Embarrassing photos and videos everywhere. Luckily, they are probably not all of you and you can watch your friends worst moments over and over again.

4. You miss sharing a room with someone.

I didn’t expect to miss this, but I’ve now realized how nice it is to have someone leave motivational Post-It notes around the room.

5. Songs now hold a lot of meaning.

Whether it’s a song you hear at parties or always play in the car with your friends, there are some songs that just aren't the same to listen to alone.

6. Your stories just aren't as appreciated.

You’ll start to tell a story of something that happened at school and people at home won’t care. But when you text a friend “remember that time…” it’s a big deal and you spend like 20 minutes just reminiscing about the good old days.

7. You start seeing “Missing *insert person or school here* a little extra today” posts or...

They seem to be every other picture I see nowadays, so maybe I’m not alone in this summer slump.

8. …you make “Missing *insert person or school here* a little extra today” posts.

Seeing other people post about missing people makes you miss people, so of course you’re going to jump on the bandwagon and post about how you miss your awesome friends.

9. You have a countdown until move-in day.

30 days and counting!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
