It's frightening my friends, but finals are in about a month in a half. While that might seem far off, we all know that crunch time is just beginning. This is the time when you race to make up for less-than-impressive midterm grades. This is the time when you must start researching for those giant final projects. This is the time when you realize that you have much more than six weeks worth of work to complete. There's no time to lose.
...But the weather is getting colder, and that means that nothing sounds more appealing than curling up under a blanket and binge-watching amazing television shows. I know it's tempting, and I may be about to tempt you some more, but stay strong. Here are nine shows that you shouldn't binge watch, until after finals.
1. Parks and Recreation
Talk about lovable characters. Though the first season takes a little bit of determination to get through, once you get into it, you'll be hooked. Don't be shocked if you have a burning desire to be friends with every single character by the time you're through (except Jerry). However, seven seasons is a commitment, so make sure you have time to fully appreciate every hilarious moment and heart-warming story before you start this show.
2. The Office
A classic. This show has priceless jokes, uncomfortable moments, relationship goals, and the ever-famous stare into the camera. You shouldn't spend much more of your life without watching this show...but maybe wait to binge-watch all nine seasons until after your exams are over.
3. Friends
It will make you laugh, cry, think and finally understand all of those references that your friends are making. It's a feel-good show in every way that you can swing it. A life without Friends is a life unfulfilled. Que it up now, and be prepared to press play on episode one out of 236 as soon as you leave that last final.
4. Grey's Anatomy
I haven't watched this yet, but from what I've seen, it ruins lives. Emotionally. With 12 seasons on Netflix and more on the way, you're going to want to wait until you have some free time to give both your time and your tears to this impassioned show.
5. Sense8
Filmed in eight different countries with eight amazingly unique characters and a fantastically complex plot, Sense8 is unlike anything you've ever seen. As of right now, there's only twelve episodes, but season two has been filmed and will be released at a currently undisclosed time. Season one will get you hooked, so you may want to wait until season two is out to start this adventure.
6. Game of Thrones
Admittedly, I have not watched this yet, but it's at the top of my list. With romance, violence, hope and betrayal, it has all of the components to blow your mind. Plus, it might help you to understand more of the memes going around today. I'm going to wait until winter break to start these six seasons of crazy, and I suggest you do too.
7. The Newsroom
Like Game of Thrones, this show is not on Netflix, but it's worth your time to find it somewhere else. This dramatic show pulls you in as you join these lovable characters in the newsroom, and experience the intensity that takes place as they must deal with real, current events. There's only 25 episodes, but each are an hour long, and once you start you won't want to stop. So, when the semester if finally over, it's time to start this show.
8. Gilmore Girls
The coolest mother and daughter you'll ever meet. This show makes you feel good in every way that you can think of and even those that you can't. With quick, witty banter, the most lovable characters and the perfect amount of drama these seven seasons need to be on the top of your list come January.
9. Orange in the New Black
It's dramatic. It's emotional. It's funny. It's addicting. With so many amazing characters and a perfectly crafted plot, you'll want to get started with this right away. After exams are over, of course.
