At it's most basic level, Glee is about the tragedies and triumphs of McKinley High School's glee club, the New Directions. I admit, this premise doesn't sound like the most compelling plot-line, but it is so much more than that. Glee celebrates the dark horses of the world through drama, comedy, and my favorite part, music! Here are the reasons why you should start it next:
1) Immediately puts you in a good mood.
You can't help but fall in love with the characters. Honestly, I think of them as my friends... I'm not ashamed.
2) Addresses social issues with class.
Throughout 6 seasons, Glee tackles topics that some people feel uncomfortable facing: homophobia, trans-genders, domestic abuse, suicide, bullying, school shootings, teen-pregnancy, high school stereotypes, and many more.
3) Hot guys.
Literally every guy on this show is attractive. I mean, come on...
4) Hot girls.
If you don't want to date someone on this show, then you probably want to be them.
5) Laugh out loud funny.
Sue Silvester, the lovable villain, is hilarious.
6) All about the "underdog."
The New Directions is a hodgepodge of totally different people who some how fit together perfectly and rise above to beat their obstacles.
7) It has everything.
Glee is filled with juicy drama, priceless comedy, action, sports, and even musical numbers. What else could you want?
8) And endless list of guest stars.
Demi Lovato, Britney Spears, John Stamos, Adam Lambert, Kate Hudson, Idina Menzel, Niel Patrick Harris, Matt Bomer, Gwenyth Paltrow, Whoopi Goldberg, and, believe it or not, even more!
9) The music is phenomenal.
Anyone who has watched Glee will probably agree that at least a quarter of their music library is from Glee.
In conclusion, if you need a new show to binge watch, then Glee is definitely a good choice. I hope you celebrate the "losers" and let out your inner "Gleek!"
