Veganism used to be something that was taboo to most people, you never knew anyone that was vegan, and if you did then there were a ton of stereotypes running through your brain about them.
Now that it is 2017 veganism is a lot more common, and everyone that decides to go vegan is likely to have their own personal reasons for doing so. While animal activism is a popular reason for going vegan, there are a lot of health benefits that have convinced many to make the change to a plant-based diet.
After almost two months of being vegan, I have put together a list of benefits that I have personally noticed since going vegan.
1. Clear skin
No more extensive skincare routines! Going on a plant-based diet has helped many vegans' acne problems.
2. Metabolism Boost
Since going vegan I've noticed that my portion sizes have decreased, and I get fuller faster. This has prevented over-eating and can lead to (healthy) weight loss.
3. Less fatigue
Waking up in the morning is now a lot less horrendous than it was before I switched to a vegan diet. I hit snooze less often and wake up feeling refreshed.
4. More focused
As a busy college student, you are constantly slammed with assignments and constantly studying, which you absolutely need to be focused for. Going plant-based has helped me be able to stay on task without getting so distracted.
5. Anxiety is more manageable
If you suffer from anxiety, like I do, then you know how hard the bad days can be. I have noticed a lot more good days since changing my diet.
6. More energy
Getting through the long school or work day will become a lot easier. Maybe you'll even make it to the gym like you've been wanting to do.
7. Natural food tastes better
While some vegans still eat a lot of processed and artificial food, I have found it to be much more satisfying to eat more natural foods. Going vegan does not mean that everything you eat is healthy. You still need to make sure you're getting enough nutrients, and by eating naturally you will find that it is a lot easier to eat healthily.
8. No longer a picky eater
I used to be a really picky eater when it came to food, mostly vegetables. By eating plant-based and mostly natural foods, I now eat more than just lettuce and carrots to get my daily vegetable intake.
9. You'll crave water
If you ever find yourself struggling to drink enough water every day, going vegan will make you crave it constantly. Once you start giving your body healthy food, you won't want to ruin it by drinking things that are bad for you.
