Sam Hunt is country music's latest heartthrob. The singer/songwriter, guitarist, and pianist has more to offer than just his angelic voice and good looks. The Georgia native picked up and shipped out to Nashville to pursue a music career. We all start somewhere, right? Here are some fun facts about Sam that you probably would have never guessed:

1. He was the star quarterback at University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Sam could have had a set career playing football, but music was more important to him. Even in high school he was the first pick for several state drafts, and was named All State Georgia. He was so good that he could have been signed by the Kansas City Chiefs as a free agent at the time. Check out his highlights here.

2. He grew up playing all kinds of sports.

Check out these adorable pictures of Sam in his basketball and baseballdays.

3. He's the oldest of three.

He was such a handsome young man! Sam took this picture on his Instagram approaching a trip back home to see the fam.

4. He's 6'4"

No explanation necessary, just take a moment of silence.

5. He was a philosophy major in college.

It all makes sense now - no wonder his lyrics are so deep and insightful. Doesn't he just look like a hot philosophy professor?

6. The album title, "Montavello," is about a girl.

Sam went to school in Birmingham, GA, a town just south of Montavello, GA. Right before he left for Nashville to pursue his music career, he met a girl. He claims that she's the inspiration for a lot of the songs on the album as well.

7. He has a rescue cat.

As if he couldn't get any more perfect, he's an animal lover. His cat, Dandelion, lives with Sam's brother right now while he's touring.

8. "Cop Car" is actually a true story.

His hit single, "Cop Car", is about his adventures with a girl he dates (the girl from Montavello). In his acoustic version of the song on the "Between The Pines" mixtape, he explains the whole story. The two would sneak into this tiny little airport nearby until they got caught by the cops. Thankfully they weren't actually arrested.

9. He got his first guitar at 18.

Sam is no stranger to the guitar, but he did pick it up fairly late. He got his first guitar in college at a pawn shop and took off from there. As if playing Division I football wasn't enough on his plate, he figured why not pick up the guitar.

As you can see, Sam Hunt is full of surprises. He's bringing a new face to country music and people are loving him. Fans are anxiously awaiting a new album from Sam, but he admits it's been difficult to get inspiration for new songs since he's at such a different point in his life.

So there you have it, nine fun facts about Sam Hunt. Enjoy his beauty and talent on his Instagram and Twitter.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
