There is truly nothing better than the companionship of a dog.

If you are a dog person, you probably consider your dog one of your best friends. If you aren’t a dog person, well, what’s wrong with you? Here are 8 ways dogs are the cure to everything and the key to your happiness.

1. They never fail to make you feel like the most important person in the world

No one gets more excited to see me than my dog. I could be gone for two minutes, and when I come back my dog treats me like I’ve been gone for five years. If I’m ever feeling bad about myself, at least I know my dog misses me.

2. They only listen, and NEVER interrupt

Maybe you need to get something off of your mind, or maybe you just want to rant about the world or a boy or the bad grade you got on your exam. Your dog will listen. Dogs will never judge you, try to give you unwanted advice, or tell you that you are wrong. The best part? You can rant for hours, and your dog will still love you.

3. They are ALWAYS down to chill

Friends are flaky. Dogs aren’t. They can always hangout; you don’t even have to make a plan. In the mood for a chill movie night? Your dog will be there without a question. If your dog likes to cuddle, you’ve hit the jackpot.

4. There is no such thing as a dog in a bad mood

Whether you’re sad, angry, or stressed, there is no better thing to cheer you up than your dog. No matter what day it is, what they have eaten, and despite the fact that they have probably been sitting in the same spot all day, dogs are always happy. They are a constant source of positive energy that can brighten up your day with kisses and wagging tails.

5. Make a mess at dinner? No vacuum needed

Dogs have a hidden talent: cleaning. I’m serious; every time I drop a piece of food in my house, within minutes it’s gone. Because they will literally eat anything, dogs ensure that you never have to worry about making a mess on the floor.

6. They are your own personal security guard

My dog is only thirty pounds, and he looks like a combination of an Oreo and a cow. He is not in any way intimidating, however, if someone was trying to attack me, he would be able to tell. His annoyingly-loud bark could signal for help, or at least annoy my attacker enough to leave me alone.

(Look how cute he is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

7. Sometimes, you just need a break from people

People are exhausting. They require social interaction and efforts to maintain conversation. Dogs are the perfect way to be away from people, but not completely alone. Most importantly, they ask for nothing at all except for an occasional bathroom break (and maybe a tummy rub).

8. They give you UNCONDITIONAL love

Dogs don’t care what you look like or if you’re rich or poor, they love you no matter what. They are the cure to your sadness, boredom, exhaustion, or whatever else brings you trouble, and they will be by your side forever with an endless source of kisses, cuddles, and overwhelming love.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
