It's 7 a.m. and it is time to get up. You keep hitting the snooze button, and all you want to do is stay in bed for just a little longer. You get it up... and suddenly you realize you are LATE! You hope out of bed, grab any piece of clothing you can, brush your teeth and hop out the door! Your day full of craziness begins.

You get to school or work and are fumbling through all of the assignments and emails you have to read and complete. Your mind is wondering, and all you can think about is that cup of coffee that you need. You are in the constant rotation of sleep, work, eat, repeat. Your life is a constant cycle of work, work, work and do not get any ME time. It is so important for you to have "me" time each and every day in order to ease your mind.

Here are 10 things that I try to fit in my day:

1. Set specific time slots!

By setting specific times for yourself during the day to take 5 to 10 minutes to relax is what is most important and implementing three to five of these throughout your day. It will help you de-stress and calm your mind before hopping back to your tasks.

2. Start your day off with 10 minutes of meditation

This one I cannot stress enough. Every morning I wake up now and sit in my bed for 10 minutes with a cup of coffee to just relax my mind and plan out my day in my head. This helps so much because I feel so much more organized, and prepared for my day. It helps me feel more positive and not as overwhelmed.

3. Workout

Working out is a stress-reliever without a doubt. Whether you go on a walk, run, do yoga, aerobics, or even play a sport. Set aside 30 minutes to an hour a day to exercise and release your endorphins. Get your mind and body moving, it will help you feel empowered and more motivated.

4.Get enough ZZZ's

Sleep, sleep, sleep. Not catching enough sleep can really put a hold on your day. And no matter how much caffeine you drink, it will not fix how tired you are. By not getting enough sleep it will cause you to feel groggy, crave sugary foods, and will overall blare your mood for the whole day. So make sure that you are getting at least 6-8 hours of sleep per night.

5. Eat healthy

Healthy eating, allows you to have more energy and feel unstoppable. If you are constantly eating fried or sugary foods, it can let you feel more tired, and less lazy throughout the day. It feels like a crash and burn feeling. By getting your daily supply of fruits and vegetables and protein it will allow your body and mind to feel happy and more enthusiastic throughout your day.

6. Put yourself on a schedule

Have a calendar with you at all times. Make sure that you create a set "plan" for the day. Cross things off, and do an hour by hour schedule. This has truly helped me gauge what needs to be done when, and this way I never forget anything. Our minds tend to wander and be all over the place, so by creating a daily timeline for yourself will only benefit you in the long run.

7. Treat yourself

Treat yourself to something you deserve. Whether that be a dessert you have been craving, a new purse, or that new pair of sunglasses you have been wanting. You work hard, so you deserve to treat yourself every once in awhile.

8. Keep consistent relationships

Make sure that you are maintaining your relationships, and aren't using the excuse that "you are too busy." Life gets in the way, and time moves quickly. Make sure that you are keeping up with everyone in your life, and maintaining positive and healthy relationships. This will make you a more positive person, knowing that you have people who care about you and love you and will always have your back.

These eight things have kept me going and have allotted me to take a deep breath and enjoy the littlest things in my life. It is good to always be on the move, but you need to take a step back to breath.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
