8 Verses To Silence Your Insecurity

Insecurity is the uncertainty about oneself or a lack of confidence. I have struggled with being insecure many times and didn't know how to silence it until I turned to God to help me. I have learned that only God can drive out my fears and protect me from the world. Here are some verses that have helped me.

1. "Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!" Psalm 46:10

God not only makes known that he is God, but that he will be exalted across the whole earth. He is all powerful and gives us comfort that he will be exalted because he is God.

2. "From the end of the earth I call to you when my heart is faint. Lead me to the rock that is higher than I." Psalm 61:2

At times it's easy to forget that we are human and that God is greater than any of our fears or insecurities. But, God is greater. He is our rock and cornerstone of our foundation.

3. "You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you." John 15:16

This gives the assurance that God knows you and loves you infinitely. He knows that you can do good works in his name and wants you as his child.

4. "There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus." Galatians 3:28

Love has no borders. No matter the ethnicity, color of your skin, gender, nor any other label can separate you from God's love. He has ensured that we are all in one with Christ. There are no exceptions in God's promises.

5. "Arise, for it is your task, and we are with you; be strong and do it." Ezra 10:4

It can be hard to be a disciple of Christ when everyone around you is trying to tear you down draw you away from him. But, strength will be within you.

6. "He determines the number of the stars; he gives to all of them their names." Psalm 147:4

He has named each star by name and how much more are you to him than the stars? He knows your name, your hopes, your dreams, your fears, and everything else about you. You're not forgotten.

7. "He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away." Revelation 21:4

Don't worry about the pain that you've been feeling. All of these things will pass away and joy is coming.

8. "Shall I bring to the point of birth and not cause to bring forth?" says the Lord; "shall I, who cause to bring forth, shut the womb?" says your God." Isaiah 66:9

God says that he will not cause pain without allowing something new to be born. Sometimes you want to ask the question "why?" because something that seemed so good was taken away, but God promises to have something even better in store.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
