8 Underrated Study Abroad Locations

Everybody goes to Spain or Italy, but there are so many other places in the world to travel to. Here are 8 interesting and more unconventional cities and countries to study abroad in, if you're someone who wants to apply:

1. Peru

Study in Peru, or another South American country, to experience Latin American culture like you never have and maybe never will in your lifetime! These can be great programs for students looking to learn Spanish as an alternative to Spain! It might also be a cheaper trip than all the way out to Europe!

2. Greece

Yeah, a lot of people seems to hit up Greece when they're studying abroad, but very few people actually choose a program there! You could go see Athens, Olympia, or Delphi for their history and architecture!

3. China

China is definitely an unconventional pick and could be a great option for business majors, especially those with an interest in working with international businesses!

4. Dominican Republic

If you're one of those people who want a destination study abroad location, then look no further! Take a semester and study liberal arts or Latin American culture in the DR!

5. South Africa

South Africa offers programs for arts and sciences, as is to be expected from a country with so much rich, colorful history, that is also a big business hub!

6. Canada

If you want to do a trip abroad, but maybe you don't wanna go too far from home? Canada actually offers fantastic programs in North American politics, which is ideal for any Political Science majors or students wanting to start a career in politics after they graduate!

7. Tanzania

For those Parks and Recreational Services or Ecology majors, there are plenty of programs in this small African country that are tailored specifically for you!

8. France (NOT Paris)

Lastly, most people who study in France, whatever they go for, is in Paris. But there are dozens of other cities that offer programs that are just as good and will allow you to see France, just with fewer tourists! Cities like Lyon, Nice, Montpellier, and Aix are all prime examples!
