Winter break is finally upon us. The exams (and tears) are finally over, and as you pack your bags, make your way back home and get ready to sleep for at least a good two to three days, here are just a few thoughts that might be running through your mind.

1. "Am I really done?"

Oh yes, you are finally done. So get ready to put on your pajamas, kick back, and take a break from the stress that is college life.

2. "Wait, let me just make sure that I don't have any work to do."

If you're like me, you can't help but slightly panic for the first few days of break every time you think about school. Do you have work to do? Do you not have work to do? We both know the answer is probably no, but the thought will still cross your mind more than you'd like to admit.

3. "I'm not moving from this couch for the next five days."

Once you finally do put on those pajamas, grab a blanket and make your way to your couch, you're basically all set to live on that piece of furniture for at least a good five days.

4. "I'm about to eat so many home-cooked meals."

Dining hall food is not the absolute worst, and you aren't the least talented cook you know by any means, but any food that you've had since you've been in school is absolutely nothing compared to the food you'll eat at home. You'll probably be making a list in your head of everything your mom has to cook you from the time you walk through the front door.

5. "My pets are actually going to hate me by the time I leave."

There will be so many cuddles, oh so many cuddles. Not that you really mind, but in your head you know that your pets are probably going to be ready for you leave again after the first few days of you being home.

6. "Wait, when does break actually end?"

You're going to get comfortable not having nearly as many responsibilities as you do at school, and with that comes forgetting when you have to actually go break. Before you know it, you'll be wondering what day it is, and how many more days of sweet freedom you have left.

7. "I'm going to sleep until I physically cannot sleep anymore."

You thought about it the entire last two weeks you were at school, and when you get home, sleep is going to be just about the only thing on your mind, and you're going to sleep so, so much.

8. "I'm so happy to be home."

The main thought running through your mind is just how much you love being home, and how much you're going to pretend in your mind that you never actually have to leave.

When it comes down to it, more than anything, you're just happy to be home. Happy to be with you family (and pets), and happy to take a nice little vacation from that crazy thing we call college.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
