Of course, there are many wonderful things about kids... but this article is not about them. From a perspective of working in an environment that requires interaction with kids, this is a very negative approach. I'm fortunate enough that I don't have to babysit but I do work at a children's side of a library, and if you spend as much time as I do near children, you'll certainly relate to this list.
Personally, I find some of these things fascinating:
1. They're SO loud.
Seriously, being with kids means endless amounts of screaming.
2. A child's parents have so much to do with how they are.
Let me tell you, the parents are worse most of the time. Susie doesn't understand why you're yelling, okay?! Chill out.
3. Repetition doesn't really seem to phase them.
Once I heard "Old McDonald Had A Farm" on repeat for a full half hour and almost went insane, but kids don't seem phased by it at all. The same goes for when parents give any sort of reprimand.
4. They can be SO sneaky.
And you don't expect it?! I've walked away from a kid, and whisper, "we only have to listen when she can see us." EVIL.
5. There is very little understanding of other people's existence.
Honestly, if you think the Kardashians are narcissists, take a look at your average toddler.
6.They can be easily distracted.
Coins? Board Games? Grass? Anything! Honestly it's concerning.
7. They really are absorbing everything.
You say one casual curse word and suddenly it's their entire vocabulary?
8. It doesn't take much to make them happy.
