Most of my days are spent hanging out with my guy friends and they definitely make it interesting. Don't get me wrong, I love my friends that are girls I just have many more guy friends than I do girl friends. Here are a few things I have noticed about having guy friends.

1. You never feel judged when you are around them.

You can be as silly as you want. They may think you're weird and make fun of you but it is all in good fun. Depending on who I am hanging out with, I am not always comfortable being myself around other girls because of how judgmental some of them can be.

2. They can help you with your car if you have no idea what you're doing (like me).

Some girls know what they are doing when it comes to cars, I have no idea. If I need my oil changed, my tires/brakes checked or just have a question about my car I can have one of my guy friends take a look and they know what they are talking about, (I hope).

3. They understand "guy language".

If I'm trying to understand why a guy did a certain thing I can go to my guy friends and ask them to interpret the situation. It usually helps, and makes me feel better. They also know exactly what to say in certain situations. As most girls know, guys do not always know how to express their emotions (sometimes girls don't either). If another guy assess the message, they know what they are trying to get at.

4. You have support 24/7.

With a few of my guy friends they can just read a message I send them and they know something is wrong. They will do anything they can to cheer you up, no matter how much of a fool they make of themselves. They hate seeing you upset and will do anything to fix the problem. I've heard the words "Who do I need to beat up this time?" countless amount of times. On more than one occasion I have stayed up until 2am talking about what has been bothering me. I've also had times where either I pick up one of my guy friends late at night or they randomly come over and stay the night because they know I've had a bad day.

5. Their family is your family, vice versa.

Their family knows you almost as well as they do, and so does yours. It's not out of the ordinary to randomly come over without asking or to run errands with you and your family. If they have a child or children you're almost as attached to them as they are. Your family is always asking how they are doing and find it odd if they haven't seen them in a few days. Not to mention, these guys are your family, they are your brothers.

6. You can eat as much as you want.

It's perfectly acceptable to eat four slices of pizza. This is definitely a perk of having guy friends. Whenever you eat, you can eat as much as you want and they don't care. This is something I am self conscious about when I am hanging out with my friends that are girls. I am someone who can eat quite a bit of food. Now the guys might make remarks about me being able to eat a lot but they really could not care less.

7. It's plain and simple, guy friends are simple.

Just sitting around and watching a movie, or having a fire is entertaining for them. It doesn't take much to make them happy. They are okay if you just text them every once in a while instead of expecting you to text them every day. They usually brush most things off quickly and act like it never happened, not much seems to bother them. It makes life simpler.

8. You can be rough with them.

It's a fact that guys like to fight for fun. Sometimes it's fun to try and fight/wrestle with them. Especially if they grew up playing sports like football and wrestling, it makes it more intense. Even though they win every time it's still fun.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
