8 Things I Wish I Would've Done Over Winter Break

Once school starts back up, I realize all of the things that I didn't do.

Right before winter break starts, we all have a million things that we plan on doing during our time off. However, the break is usually filled with work or constant travel. So here is my list of things that I wish I had done over break.

1. See my family

Of course I got to see my immediate family at Christmas, but there's more family (like cousins and grandparents) that I should have gone to see as well.

2. Watched Christmas Movies

The only thing I wanted to do was curl up on the couch or in bed with a cup of hot cocoa and watch The Muppets Christmas Carol. That didn't happen. Not even once.

3. Speaking of hot chocolate, I just wanted a good mug of it

I wanted nothing more than a mug of hot chocolate with some marshmallows, just like my mom used to make. Instead, my break consisted of soda and alcohol, not hot cocoa.

4. Gone sledding

There is no good use for snow, other than sledding! I don't care how old you are, there is nothing wrong with college students taking over the hill and having some fun!

5. Clean my room

Sweet! Now that school is done, I can finally clean my room and get caught up on my laundry! Or so I thought. I was never home long enough to actually clean, nor did I have the ambition. So come time for school to start back up, my room is still dirty.

6. Binge watch Netflix

I had a series all lined up to watch during my down time and it seems that I was never able to just sit down and watch it.

7. Taken a trip to somewhere warm

Everyone went somewhere over winter break. All I wanted was a beach and a cocktail. I settled for a heated blanket and glass of wine.

8. Relax

All I wanted was a chance to spend a whole day being the lazy bum that I know I am, but I was never given that option.

Christmas break is supposed to be just that -- a break. Instead, it always ends up being the exact opposite. We spend so much time working and driving home to make all of our family functions, that the things we wanted to do remain things we just wanted to do.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
