With 2016 approaching quickly it is time to reflect on the past year and make changes to things that did not work or make sure to keep doing the things that did. A lot of things happened this year both good and bad. To focus on the positive here are a few, in case you missed any: Same sex marriage was legalized, Apple finally gave us a taco emoji, McDonald's started all day breakfast, Justin Bieber turned us all into beliebers, the dress that stirred a huge controversy over what color it is, Kale was put in everything (including cupcakes), a boy was finally put in a barbie commercial, and our parents all discovered Facebook. However, as all this was happening, so was life, and sometimes as the saying goes, life can be a real...not nice person. So, without further adieu, here are some things to leave in 2015 and never look back.
1. For the male-lovers: The guy who hits you up at 3 a.m. only or the one who only hits you up when he and his girlfriend break up or the “send me a pic” guy because…seriously? Pretty much any guy who treats you like you are a 24-hour pizza delivery place and he only calls when he is drunk, wants immediate pleasure or is using you to fill a void.
For the female-lovers: The girl who tells you to "man up" the girl you keep getting back with even though it obviously isn't working, and the girl friend your girlfriend doesn't like.
2. Your regrets for the past year (or any year for that matter). 2016 is a new year and a time for new beginnings. So much opportunity to start new and make the changes you want. Leave the regrets, take the lessons.
3. Your jeans that you keep from high school...you know, those ones you keep in the back of the drawer “just in case” one day you fit into them again. It’s okay that you don’t. Its called growing up. You aren’t supposed to have the body you had in high school.
4. That juice cleanse…or really any other faux diet. Repeat after me. *They do nothing for me and I will gain it all back the minute I stop this torture.* Seriously. The only thing that diet is doing for you is making you miserable. Instead of the diet, try cutting back on some sweets or processed foods. Everything in moderation. Have that damn cookie…but maybe just not 6…every day.
5. This weird thing where 12 year olds don't look 12 and are throwing off the natural balance of the world by skipping the awkward years of life. I don't know. I can't explain it or understand this weird phenomenon but it needs to stay in 2015.
6. Anyone who was only there to celebrate your successes but never your defeats. Not worth your time or this explanation.
7. ANY publicity for Donald Trump
8. Any expectations of what 2016 should be. Have goals and have dreams but do not have expectations. Let 2016 play out how it is supposed to and do not be too disappointed if something does not go your way. It probably was never supposed to and that’s okay.
